C2C 2023: Tigirlily Gold - The ICON Stage

Having been part of the #TEAMw21 playlists for some time and having seen them sprinkle a little Tigirlily Gold dust on Breland's After Show party the previous night there was no way that we were going to let their presence in the UK go unrecognised. Their whirlwind appearance at the ICON stage only cemented our appreciation for them!

It only took the opening song "Blonde" for Kendra and Krista Slaubaugh he sisters that make up Tigirlily Gold to have the crowd eating out of the palm o their hands. Inspired by Dolly Parton, it was a chance to immediately show off those sisterly harmonies and afforded them the opportunity to slip in a bit of "9 to 5" in tribute to the lady herself and to get the crowd joining in with a singalong.

It was a chance to play songs that are already in the can and soon to be forthcoming and even on first listen these tracks may well spark a new gold rush in the US - a Tigirlily Goldrush!! Take "Leroy" a tale of being mistreated

" The game was on - the drinks were strong!"

With Krista on guitar and vocals and Kendra singing while holding the mic in her hand - this came with a marvellous extended note on the word "voice".

Another new song "I Tried The Ring On" was equally superb with the sisters making eye contact as they sang. This was a chance to show off the power of sisterly harmonies on this glimpse into the future that was never to be.

A cover of Leona Lewis's "Bleeding Love" once again saw a combination of big high notes and show"girl"ship with Krista holding the guitar in the air as the song concluded.

More new material in the shape of "Stupid Prizes" only confirmed our belief that these girls are definitely on the "Up Escalator". This was an excellent blend of a tune with smart lyrics and saw the girls face each other as they played.

Closing the set with their party good time single "Shoot Tequila" - this was fantastic good fun - great humour, fantastic songs, they need to return as soon as possible. So fantastic was it that we were compelled to stop and tell them so as they passed us on their way out of the O2!!
