Wood Burnt Red Announce Highly-Anticipated New Single "Where You Are Now" Out 7th Feb 2025!
After a stellar 2024 that saw them perform at high-profile festivals and solidify their reputation as one of the most exciting acts in country music, Wood Burnt Red are kicking off 2025 in style. The band’s new single, "Where You Are Now," is set to release on 7th February 2025. This marks the first of a handful of new tracks they’ll be unveiling throughout the year, giving fans plenty to look forward to.
"Where You Are Now" is a deeply emotional and reflective song, exploring themes of betrayal, self-discovery, and resilience. The track features the band’s heartfelt lyrics and signature sound, blending modern country with rock influences. Written during a time of personal growth for the band, the song delves into the universal experience of overcoming disappointment and reclaiming one’s identity.
Lead vocalist Tom Franklin shared, “I wrote this song after witnessing a close friendship fall apart at the seams. When you see someone close to you being used and manipulated over and over again, but they can’t see it until it’s too late! When they rely on that relationship because it’s few and far between, and they cherish it because it’s someone to turn to and confide in. To then find out you meant nothing to them, and they just drop you because it doesn’t suit them, especially in a desperate time of need… that’s some real nasty shit. And I had to get it down on paper.”
The song’s lyrics capture the raw emotion of the experience, with lines like:
"I wonder where you are now, 'cause when I cried for help you turned your back and walked out, Tried to make it about yourself, But I want to thank you, For showing me the truth."
Drummer Eddie Baldwin added, “For me, it’s a song about self-discovery. It makes me think about past relationships and how, as we grow older, we discover ourselves and uncover the people we once held close.”
Bassist Russ Staples reflected, “People come into and out of our lives all the time. Some stay longer than others, and some leave a longer-lasting impression when they are gone. To me, this is a song about those people from our past.”
Guitarist Rob Graney noted, “As time goes on, it’s natural for relationships and friendships to be put under pressure due to the changing priorities of those involved. Some people stick around with you for the journey; others drift away and go their separate ways.”
Keyboardist Mike Mann shared, “I think it’s a song that explores the impact of past relationships. For better or worse, these experiences shape us.”
This new single also sets the tone for what promises to be an unforgettable year for Wood Burnt Red. Hot off the back of their upcoming release, the band will headline the Roadhouse Unplugged launch event in Nottingham on 15th February. Sharing the stage with Jack Browning and Laura Beckwith, it’s shaping up to be an unmissable night of music.
Looking ahead, the band has been confirmed for a variety of festivals this summer, including the inaugural Roadhouse Weekender in East Sussex and In It Together in Wales, which is debuting a country music stage. Even bigger announcements are on the horizon. “We’re just getting started,” says Franklin. “2025 is going to be our most exciting year yet, and we can’t wait to bring our music to new audiences and our loyal fans alike.”
