SINGLE REVIEW: SORREL NATION - CRAZY FOR YOU

SORREL NATION - CRAZY FOR YOU

Having already been trailed in Sorrel Nation's "Thirty Summers" live EP, we now get to hear the first sampling from her forthcoming album "Lost En Route" with a full band version of "Crazy For You" and the results are astonishing.

From the opening seconds, the introduction has a rich warmth to the overall sound, the percussion is bold and up front, a muted almost haunting double bass almost purrs while the most divine electric guitar sets the scene perfectly. It is nearly thirty seconds in before Sorrel needs to add any vocals - she like the rest of us was probably admiring the playing!

Announced previously by the lady herself as being a

"shmoozy sexy little love song", "Crazy For You" this song comes fully charged. It's as forthright a declaration of devotion as you could ever wish to hear.

Sorrel's vocals are sultry, dreamy and suggestive to say the least

"Sitting here on my own, I miss you now

I used to live so far from home

But you’re home now

Never knew how love could feel

What I felt before who knows if it was real?

But I feel you now

I feel you now"

The second verse if anything raises the temperature further - who needs "Je T'aime with Sorrel around?

"Taste my lips, taste my love on your skin

Wrapped around till sun comes up with my limbs

Never knew life could feel so free

I put it down, to you and me

I feel you now, I feel you now"

Each time round the joyous chorus ups the volume with sheer exuberance, with Sorrel tracking her own vocals to accentuate them even more.

"Hey there baby

I will follow you

Through the wind and rain

If you’re away

I’ll be there for you

Hey there baby

If you want me to

I’ll make love to you

Even when I’m feeling lazy

I’d be crazy not to

Cause I’m crazy for you "

The end of the second chorus see Sorrel's vocals soar and a good old fashioned guitar solo

Things build impressively to a crescendo with percussion and guitar going full throttle but failing to smother Sorrel's ever more impressive vocalising.

One final take on the chorus comes with the band all but silent and sees Sorrel at her most gentle, like a bird on the dawn chorus

It all bodes well for the forthcoming album "Lost En Route" and it's accompanying tour details below.
